08/07/10: IIF Welcomes Drink-Driving Measure Back |

The Irish Insurance Federation (IIF) called for the reduced blood-alcohol limit in the Road Traffic Bill, which reaches its Final Stage in the Dail today, to be brought into force as soon as possible.
"Successive reductions in the maximum blood-alcohol concentration for drivers, coupled with vigorous enforcement measures and hard-hitting advertising campaigns, have helped to reduce the incidence of drunk driving and consequently road deaths and injuries significantly over the past decade", said IIF Chief Executive Mike Kemp. "It is time for a further step forward and we trust that the Bill will be enacted without delay and the new limit brought into force as soon as practicable."
