Insurers Slam Funding of Jobs Initiative
The Irish Insurance Federation (IIF) today denounced Government plans to fund the Jobs Initiative by hitting private pension schemes. The IIF expressed its outrage at the attack on private pension savers and criticised the Government’s lack of foresight in imposing a 0.6% levy on private pension funds, which will take money directly from the retirement savings of ordinary workers.

Insurers Pay over €220 million in Claims from December Freeze
The Irish Insurance Federation (IIF) today announced that €224m has been paid to home and business owners as a result of the freeze that affected the country during December 2010. This was the third severe weather event to affect the country during a fourteen-month period, which saw the insurance industry inject over € ¾ bn back into the Irish economy.
